Quang Tri, October 10, 2026 – The international nature conservation community is jointly celebrating World Migratory Bird Day under the theme: “Every Bird Counts – Your Observation Matter.” This year’s event places special emphasis on the pioneering role of communities in research, data collection, and the protection of migratory birds.

The theme highlights the vital importance of citizen science. Public contributions through field observations regarding migratory bird populations, habitats, and ecological threats form a core component of this effort. These data not only enrich global scientific databases but also serve as the foundation for planning more effective, localized conservation strategies.

An Inspiring Story at Hac Hai Lagoon, Quang Tri
During a field survey at Hac Hai Lagoon – a wetland located in the downstream region of the Kien Giang River (Quang Tri Province), the CEGORN Center recorded an inspiring story about Mr. Xuan. Once a person who made a living by hunting and trading birds, Mr. Xuan’s life turned a new page thanks to a miraculous twist of fate provided by nature. Right in front of his porch, a wild bodhi tree sprouted and flourished over the years. One serene morning, Mr. Xuan was deeply moved to see a crane land safely on the tree canopy, showing no fear of humans.

That moment felt like an awakening from deep within. “Perhaps heaven chose me to protect the migratory birds in my homeland,” Mr. Xuan shared. From that moment on, his hunting past officially came to an end, giving way to a dedicated journey as a “keeper of the flame” for nature. Not only does he personally protect the birds that visit, but he has also become an active advocate, inspiring and awakening an awareness of ecological heritage protection among the local community.
Taking Action for the Future of Migratory Birds
On the occasion of World Migratory Bird Day 2026, join CEGORN in participating in global efforts to celebrate migratory birds through practical activities: attending thematic webinars, experiencing birdwatching events, and joining spring festivals and community activities.
Every individual observation and action today serves as a guarantee for a sustainable future for migratory birds on their journeys across the skies of the world.
